About the Journal
The Global Review of Social Sciences, Education and Humanities is an international, open-access, continuously published scholarly journal dedicated to disseminating original and relevant research in the fields of Applied Social Sciences, Humanities, Literature, Art, Education, and Philosophy. Based in the United States, the journal seeks to promote critical and interdisciplinary dialogue among researchers, educators, and intellectuals from different cultural, geographic, and institutional contexts.
Its mission is to foster the circulation of scientific knowledge that contributes to the understanding of social, cultural, historical, literary, educational, and ethical phenomena, taking into account the diversity of theoretical and methodological approaches. The journal values epistemological plurality, critical thinking, and a commitment to social justice, human rights, sustainability, diversity, inclusion, and educational and cultural development, thereby enabling emancipatory transformations in society.
Focus and Scope
The Global Review of Social Sciences, Education and Humanities is an international open-access scientific journal dedicated to publishing original and relevant studies in the fields of Applied Social Sciences, Humanities, Literature, Arts, and Education. The journal welcomes manuscripts that promote critical, theoretical, and methodological reflections, contributing to the understanding of contemporary social, cultural, political, educational, and philosophical dynamics.
The journal has a special interest in interdisciplinary research—whether empirically or theoretically grounded—that addresses topics such as:
• Philosophy, Ethics, and Epistemology;
• Sociology, Anthropology, and Political Science;
• Education, Educational Policy, and Teacher Education;
• Social Psychology, History, and Human Geography;
• Communication, Culture, Language, and the Arts;
• Gender Studies, Diversity, and Human Rights;
- Literature, Linguistics, and Applied Linguistics.
• Social theories and critical methodologies.
We accept scholarly articles in all formats, including theoretical articles, theoretical essays, experience reports, systematic literature reviews, interviews, book reviews, and translations.
The journal employs a double-blind peer review system and values contributions that reflect geographic, institutional, and epistemological diversity.
We encourage the submission of works that engage with the contemporary challenges of global and local societies, committed to the production of ethical, socially relevant knowledge aligned with the principles of open science.
Submission
Registration in the journal’s system and subsequent access via username and password are mandatory for submitting manuscripts, as well as for tracking the ongoing editorial process.
Authors must log in to an existing account or register a new account on the platform.
It is mandatory to provide an ORCID link at the time of registration.
Formatting Guidelines for Submission
Manuscripts submitted to Global Review of Social Sciences, Education and Humanities must comply with editorial guidelines based on the APA (American Psychological Association) style, 7th edition, with adaptations to meet the specific requirements of the Humanities and Social Sciences. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in the manuscript being returned for revisions before the peer review process begins.
1. General Formatting
• Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt;
• Line spacing: 1.5 (including in the references);
• Alignment: justified;
• Recommended margins: 2.5 cm on all sides (top, bottom, left, and right);
• First-line indent: 1.25 cm;
• Headings and subheadings: must follow the APA style hierarchy, without numbering;
• Pagination: insert the page number in the upper right corner of every page.
2. Manuscript Length
• Scientific articles, theoretical essays, and case reports: between 4,000 and 8,000 words;
• Literature reviews: up to 7,000 words;
• Book reviews, interviews, and annotated translations: up to 3,000 words.
3. Abstract and Keywords
• The abstract must be up to 250 words, written in Portuguese and English (and also in Spanish, if the text is in that language);
• Five keywords must be provided, separated by semicolons.
4. References and Citations
• References must follow the author-date style, as per APA (7th ed.);
• Direct quotations of up to 40 words must be incorporated into the paragraph using quotation marks; longer quotations must be set off in a block quote;
• The list of references must be presented at the end of the text, in alphabetical order, with single-line spacing and a blank line between each reference;
• The use of reference management tools such as Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote is recommended.
5. Tables, Figures, and Images
• They must be included in the body of the text, with sequential numbering and a clear title;
• Images and illustrations must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi;
• Any image or data reproduced from another source must include the appropriate citation and permission, when necessary.
6. Anonymization and Files
• The manuscript must not contain any information that identifies the authors, ensuring a double-blind peer review process;
• The file must be submitted exclusively in .doc or .docx format.
• A separate file containing the authors’ information, including institutional affiliation and ORCID, must be attached.
Types of Manuscripts Accepted
General Articles
Must contain:
a) Introduction;
b) Theoretical discussion;
c) Empirical section (if applicable);
d) Conclusions.
They must include a title (max. 15 words) in the original language and in English; abstracts in Portuguese and English (or in all three languages if the article is in Spanish), with up to 250 words, and 3 to 5 keywords.
Formatting must comply with ABNT standards NBR 6023 and NBR 10520. Use the author-date system for citations.
Theoretical Articles
These should present in-depth conceptual discussions based on a well-established theoretical framework. The recommended structure includes:
a) Introduction;
b) Theoretical foundation;
c) Critical discussion;
d) Concluding remarks.
They must follow the same requirements for title, abstract, keywords, formatting, and citation system as scientific articles.
Essays
These follow the same structure as articles, though there may be greater flexibility in the presentation of arguments. A description of the methodological paradigm must be included when the text is not empirical.
Research Reports
Structure:
a) Introduction;
b) Empirical section;
c) Results and discussion;
d) Conclusion.
The same requirements apply regarding the title, abstract, keywords, formatting, and citation system as for scientific articles.
Literature Reviews (Systematic, Bibliometric, Narrative, or Integrative)
They follow the same structure and requirements as scientific articles and must clearly state the review method used.
Translations
Must include a footnote in the title indicating the source of the original publication and authorization for the transfer of copyright. They follow the structure of scientific articles.
Critical Reviews
Must include:
a) Introduction;
b) Analysis of the work’s sections;
c) Critical chapter;
d) Final considerations.
Title in Portuguese and English (max. 15 words). They must follow ABNT standards and the author-date system.
Experience Reports
These are intended for the presentation of practical-pedagogical experiences, professional experiences, projects, or interventions with the potential for scientific contribution. The suggested structure is:
a) Introduction/contextualization;
b) Description of the experience;
c) Critical analysis;
d) Conclusion and lessons learned.
They must include a title, abstract, keywords, and follow the specified formatting guidelines.
Interviews
They must contain:
a) Biography of the interviewee;
b) Context of the interview;
c) Questions and answers.
Citations must follow the author-date system, in accordance with ABNT standards.
